We welcome enquiries about Baptism, Confirmation and Weddings. We will try and help you as best as we can to make any of these occasions a special event for you and all your family.
One of the joys of life is having a child of your own. Part of the life of our church is to share in that joy.
People who want to have their child baptised (Baptism – means to dip) and christened (the giving of a Christian name) can do.
If you live near our church you are entitled to this. When you live in another Parish you still can have your child baptised but we have to seek permission from your local church.
You can have your child baptised within our service at 11.00 am (1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays) or after the service at 12.30 pm.
Please contact us to check on dates.
Traditionally there are three godparents: two the same sex as the child and one of the opposite sex but to have one godmother and one godfather is sufficient. Parents may be godparents to their own children provided that the child has at least one other godparent. If you want you may have more than three godparents.
There is no cost for a baptism.
Confirmation is when a child or adult who has been baptised ‘confirms’ the promises - made for them at their baptism by their godparents - for themselves in front of the Bishop.
We run confirmation classes and you are more than welcome to attend these to learn more about confirmation and the Christian faith. Please contact us to find out more.
Wedding services are conducted throughout the year at St Andrew's. We have a lovely church to be married in.
You are entitled to be married in St Andrew's if you or your partner live in our Parish.
You are also allowed to get married in St. Andrews if you do not live in our Parish but come to church a set number of times for at least six months which means you can be on our electoral roll. This makes you a member of the church so that you can get married here.
At St Andrew's we do marry people who have been previously married and are divorced.
Please contact the Vicar to talk over your plans. We will help the best we can.
Cost of course varies from year to year but at present is about. £250 which includes the service, organist. marriage certificate and some flowers.
We do have bells as well!
